Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center in Des Moines, IA, is hiring a Patient Care Tech to support clinical staff, provide direct patient care, and perform assigned tests as needed. The 12-hour night shifts offer rotating holidays and weekends.

You will assist with personal care, vital signs, specimen collection, and safety, under supervision of RNs/LPNs. Minimum requirements include being at least 16, completing Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months, and BLS certification within six weeks.

Qualifications

• Delivers patient care and treatment as delegated by RN/LPN.
• Assists with activities of daily living and patient comfort.
• Monitors patient condition and reports changes to nurse.
• Measures vital signs and prepares patient for procedures.
• Initiates or assists with emergency response measures when needed.
• Performs bedside glucose testing and records results.
• Maintains safety and proper use of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care and treatment as delegated by an RN/LPN.
• Assist with personal hygiene, bathing, ambulation, and feeding.
• Observe and report changes in patient status to nurses.
• Record intake/output and prepare patient for procedures.
