Job summary

Xanitos, Inc. is hiring Full-Time Patient Sitters for 3rd shift at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven, MS. The role provides patient observation at the bedside under RN oversight and Xanitos leadership, with a focus on safety and compassionate service.

Responsibilities include continuous monitoring, timely reporting to nurses, assisting with meal setup and patient mobility as appropriate, and ensuring a calm, safe environment while adhering to HIPAA and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Post-Offer Medical, Background Screening and Drug Test required.
• High school diploma or GED; or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and understand written English communication including patient identifiers and critical information.
• CPR AED or basic life support healthcare provider certification required.
• Additional unit-specific hospital orientation training may be required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient condition and behavior visually and audibly at all times.
• Stay at the bedside unless relieved by staff; respond rapidly to emergencies.
• Redirect patients from at risk behaviors and complete observation reports.
• Collaborate with nurses to report safety issues and keep patient areas safe.
• Assist with meals, transfers, and basic positioning when safe to do so.
• Participate in hand-offs and ensure coverage during shifts and breaks.
