Job summary

UF Health in Gainesville is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Assistant to work 24 hours per week, 7:00pm–7:00am, with variable days.

The PCA assists the Registered Nurse by performing routine procedures under supervision to support patient care and advocate for patients in a collaborative environment.

Qualified candidates include CNAs, EMTs or Paramedics, nursing students, or NCLEX-eligible graduates. The role emphasizes patient advocacy and safe nursing support in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Licensed CNA or EMT/Paramedic certification.
• CNA with high school diploma/equivalent and 1 year patient care experience preferred.
• Nursing student enrolled in an approved program with didactic/clinical coursework.
• Current employees who completed a nursing program awaiting NCLEX authorization to test (up to 90 days).
• CNAs who are current students in CNA training programs with instructor recommendation.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Registered Nurse with routine procedures under supervision.
• Provide nursing support to achieve patient care goals.
• Advocate for patients and maintain patient safety and comfort.
• Follow hospital policies and procedures and document care as required.
