UF Health in Gainesville is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Assistant to support the Registered Nurse with routine procedures and patient care. The role emphasizes patient advocacy and safe, collaborative nursing practice in a dynamic clinical setting.

The position welcomes candidates with EMT/Paramedic, CNA with HS diploma (1 year patient care experience preferred), or nursing students in approved programs. Current CNAs awaiting NCLEX or recent grads may qualify for consideration.

Qualifications

• Licensed EMT or Paramedic certification required.
• CNA with high school diploma or equivalent with one year of patient care experience preferred.
• Nursing student currently enrolled in an approved program for preparation of either professional nurses or licensed practical nurses - upon successful completion of the didactic and clinical portion of a nursing fundamental course work.
• Current employees who have completed an approved professional nursing or licensed practical nursing program and are awaiting NCLEX authorization to test (up to 90 days post-graduation); or
• Current employees who have completed an approved professional nursing or licensed practical nursing program and have been unsuccessful in passing the NCLEX examination (up to 6 months post initial authorization to test); or
• Junior and Senior High School Students attending a state approved CNA training program who are CNAs and have a recommendation from the instructor.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Registered Nurse with routine procedures under supervision.
• Provide nursing support to achieve patient care goals in a collaborative environment.
• Support patient advocacy and safe, autonomous nursing practice.

Education

EMT or Paramedic certification

CNA with HS diploma + 1 year patient care experience

Nursing student in approved program

NCLEX-awaiting to test (up to 90 days)

NCLEX failed (up to 6 months)

CNA training with instructor recommendation
