Job summary

Holland Hospital in Michigan is seeking a part-time patient care assistant to support nursing staff on evenings. Under RN supervision, you will perform clerical and patient care assignments, document care activities, and help with daily living tasks.

Responsibilities include vital signs, specimen collection, post mortem care, and observation of patient condition, with emphasis on safety and quality. Must have HS diploma, BLS within 60 days, and be bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent or higher education proof.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider within 60 days after hire.
• CNA preferred.
• Previous patient care experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Computer literacy preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, serves as an integral member of the healthcare team by performing clerical and patient care assignments as delegated and permitted by law and regulatory bodies and institutional policies and procedures.
• Assists in the delivery of direct patient care.
• Documents patient care activities and patient data accurately using appropriate documentation forms and/or information systems.
• Performs required clinical skills including vital sign measurement, aseptic technique, specimen collection, hot and cold applications, simple respiratory therapy, post mortem care, ostomy care, and application of orthopedic devices.
• Performs patient care tasks related to activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, hair, skin, and oral care.
• Completes assigned patient duties within the time‑frame established by the RN.
• Gathers data including intake, output, vital signs, patient height and weight, and point‑of‑care test results.
• Assists with admission, transfer, or discharge of patients.
• Observes patients carefully for changes and reports in a timely manner.
