Job Details
Pay Range: $16.88 - $23.64 per hour
Employment Type: Part time, 48 hours every 2 weeks.
Schedule: 7pm to 7am, 2 nights a week. Every 3rd weekend required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (or proof of higher education)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider within 60 days after hire.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
- Previous patient care experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Computer literate preferred.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, serves as an integral member of the healthcare team by performing clerical and patient care assignments as delegated and permitted by law and regulatory bodies and institutional policies and procedures.
Patient Care
- Assists in the delivery of direct patient care.
- Documents patient care activities and patient data accurately using appropriate documentation forms and/or information systems.
- Performs required clinical skills including vital sign measurement, aseptic technique, specimen collection, hot and cold applications, simple respiratory therapy, post mortem care, ostomy care, and application of orthopedic devices.
- Performs patient care tasks related to activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, hair, skin, and oral care.
- Completes assigned patient duties within the time‑frame established by the RN.
- Gathers data including intake, output, vital signs, patient height and weight, and point‑of‑care test results.
- Assists with admission, transfer, or discharge of patients.
- Observes patients carefully for changes and reports in a timely manner.
Standards

- Reports patient safety issues using the occurrence reporting system.
- Describes unit‑based quality improvement activities and their implications for practice.
- Assists with data collection for quality improvement activities.
- Assists with identification of actual and potential risks to patient safety.
- Achieves unit‑specific initial and ongoing competencies.
- Provides close care/1:1 direct observation of patients to maintain patient safety as assigned.
- Interacts with and contributes to the professional development and training of peers, colleagues, and students.
Unit Maintenance
- Performs ongoing supplies inventory.
- Stocks and cleans patient care areas.
- Assists with regulatory checks as delegated.
- Maintains a neat, uncluttered environment in patient rooms and/or treatment areas.
Clerical and Reception
- Performs file, chart, and forms maintenance.
- Acts as unit receptionist by promptly, politely, and professionally answering phones and greeting visitors.
- Assists with requests and facilitates communication between members of the healthcare team.
- Assists with other clerical/reception duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates knowledge of computer downtime procedures.
