Job summary

UofL Health, Inc. in Louisville, KY is seeking a Unit Clerk/Patient Care Support to perform on-unit clerical duties under the supervision of an RN.

You will transcribe orders, manage charts, assist with admissions and discharges, and support patient care with basic tasks and specimen handling. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, EKG lead placement, basic life support, and ensuring timely communication between staff, patients, and physicians.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED/Equivalent (required)
• Education: Clinical Assistant/Medical Assistant or EMT Training Program or Nursing Fundamentals Course (preferred)
• Certification: Basic Life Support (through AHA) (required)
• Certification: CNA CMA or EMT (preferred)
• Certification: LPNs may apply (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Transcribes and computes orders; writes legibly and transcribes correctly
• Assembles and maintains patient records and charts
• Sets up admission/discharge charts and ensures completeness
• Handles desk communications and routes messages promptly
• Performs phlebotomy, EKG lead placement, and basic respiratory tasks
• Cares for patient hygiene, mobility, comfort and daily needs
