Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Prior customer service experience.

• Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
• Ability to walk and stand in fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Responsibilities

• Asks questions to obtain correct identification information.
• Obtains Demographic, Guarantor, Next of Kin, and Emergency Contact details.
• Obtains current insurance coverage and identification.
• Enters information to ensure payment and coordinates benefits.
• Scans documents into the Electronic Document Imaging system.
• Interprets payor websites and explains forms to patients.
• Distributes registration forms to ED, peri-op, and inpatient units.
• Attaches ID bands to patient wrists and verifies two identifiers.
• Offers Patient Bill of Rights and completes signatures as required.
• Documents follow-ups and signs off on all entries.
• Balances daily receipts and closes out transactions.
• Handles telephones professionally and maintains confidentiality.
• Works with clinical staff to facilitate patient care and payment.
