Qualifications

• High School or GED equivalent required.
• Some college preferred.
• Experience in collection and/or insurance verification preferred.
• Must provide excellent customer service and resolve issues in a high-volume setting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with telephone and in-person interactions.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
• Must pass pre-hire exams (math, grammar/vocabulary, customer service) with 80%+.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients in a polite, prompt manner.
• Registers patients in the EMR system for inpatient, outpatient, and ED visits.
• Prepares and provides patient ID bands for admissions and services.
• Explains Patient Rights, Privacy Practices, and other mandatory forms.
• Explains financial responsibilities and collects payments for deductibles and co-pays.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients via the EMR system.
• Coordinates bed assignments and reports daily lists to units.
• Contacts units to review admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Maintains Bed Board Census and handles referrals.
• Escalates issues to supervisor as needed.
• Promotes safety and completes required trainings.
• Represents the hospital professionally to patients and staff.
• Acts as mentor to new staff and students.
• Ensures clear communication for patient needs and test preparations.
• Performs varied tasks as assigned.
