Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Nurse Attendant at our Bay Shore, NY location. You will assist patients with daily living activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and help maintain a safe, clean environment on nights for full-time coverage.

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and Nurse Assistant course; NYS Nurse Attendant certification is preferred. The role emphasizes teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to care plans during night shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Completion of Nurse Assistant course or equivalent, required.
• NYS Nurse Attendant certification preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively, and follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Ability to lift, turn, position, etc. Patients, as required.

Responsibilities

• Co-worker to the nurse and a key member of the nursing care team: organizes patient care assignment and sets priorities.
• Assists RN in providing for ADL needs: meals, nourishment, hygiene, mobility, and feeding.
• Maintains patient care units in a neat and orderly condition: beds, cleaning, room preparation for new admissions.
• Assists RN by performing selected procedures and simple treatments: vitals, specimens, basic dressings, simple respiratory treatments.
• Performs a variety of related duties: transports patients, reports equipment issues, maintains cleanliness of patient areas.
• Participates in Nursing's continuing education policy: orientation, mandatory education, staff development.
