Job summary

Aurora Health Care is seeking a patient care assistant to support RNs in daily patient care during two 12-hour night shifts per week (6:30 pm to 7:00 am). Availability Sunday night through Thursday night is required, with no weekend shifts.

The role requires BLS certification within 45 days and being a State Registry-listed Nurse Aide. Responsibilities include assisting with daily patient care, recording vital signs in the EMR, participating in admissions/transfers/discharges under RN

Qualifications

• Assists RN with daily patient care including bathing, feeding, and mobility.
• Measures and documents vital signs and intake/output.
• Documents in EMR.
• Assists with admissions, transfers and discharges under RN supervision.
• Collects specimens and performs point-of-care testing as indicated.
• Maintains stock and cleans equipment and work areas.
• Patient positioning and transporting duties, including transfers.
• Infection control and hand hygiene adherence.
• Age-specific care across the life span.

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
• Measures and documents blood pressures, TPRs, I&O, daily weights, and other patient data in EMR.
• Performs rounding under RN direction and communicates observations to RN.
• Participates in admissions, transfers and discharges under RN supervision.
• Collects urine, stool, and sputum and performs point-of-care testing as indicated.
• Maintains stock for nursing area and cleans equipment and work areas.
• Performs patient positioning and transporting duties and assists with nutrition-related tasks.
• Follows infection prevention policies and hand hygiene practices.
• Provides age-appropriate care reflecting growth and development needs.
