Job summary

Cayuga Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support direct patient care at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY. You will assist with activities of daily living and monitor patient conditions under RN supervision. The role includes mandatory orientation and a 12-hour night shift pattern.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS certification will be provided if needed.
• NYS Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) is preferred.
• Previous patient care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care—Toileting, ambulating, repositioning, monitoring and recording intake and output; report changes to RN.
• Reinforce patient education (e.g., incentive spirometer use) and fall prevention.
• Maintain a clean, safe bedside area and workspace.
• Intentionally round on each patient every hour.
• Mandatory Orientation Training: one full week of Mon–Fri 8a–4p prior to starting on unit.
