Job summary

Mercy Health in Springfield is seeking a Lead RN/Charge Nurse for the Step Down Unit. You will coordinate patient care, lead staff, and collaborate with the care team to promote excellence in clinical practice and patient satisfaction.

You will supervise the unit in the absence of the leader, ensure safety and infection control, and mentor staff to uphold Mercy Health standards and deliver high-quality care.

Qualifications

• RN license in state or compact (required).
• BLS required or to be obtained prior to patient care (preferred).
• Unit-specific certifications may be required (PALS, ACLS, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care on the designated unit with the care team.
• Lead staff, provide clinical guidance, and cover in the absence of the unit leader.
• Ensure safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
• Communicate plans of care with patients and families; monitor quality and patient experience.
• Foster teamwork, resolve conflicts, and mentor staff; support patient placement and admissions.
