Job summary

Havenwyck Hospital in Auburn Hills, Michigan, is seeking a Mental Health Technician to work nights (FT, 36 hours/week, 7:00 pM–7:30 AM) with every other weekend. The role supports admissions, discharges, transfers, and ongoing patient supervision under RN direction.

Responsibilities include monitoring patients for aggressive cues, de-escalation, safety reporting, and assisting with activities of daily living while ensuring a therapeutic, rights-respecting environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prefer a minimum of two years of college in psychology, social work, mental health, or related health fields.
• Experience in dealing with emotionally disturbed preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows instructions from nursing leadership and hospital policies.
• Reports patient medical problems to the Registered Nurse.
• Reports alterations in sensory perceptual images, recognizes differences between illnesses (delusions/hallucinations) and de-escalates when needed.
• Provides care considering safety, patients’ rights, comfort and a therapeutic environment.
• Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers and completes documentation.
