Job summary

Metropolitan Behavioral Health, a UHS facility, in Dearborn, MI seeks a part-time Mental Health Technician for 7 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. The MHT will supervise patients, perform 12-minute safety checks, and support patient care under a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities include conducting room and environmental checks, facilitating groups, and escorting patients to meals and activities, with shift and weekend differentials noted in the program.

Qualifications

• Education: Associates degree in psychology, sociology or similar field is required; a bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology or similar field is preferred.
• Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Responsibilities

• The MENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN (MHT) serves as the primary supervisor of the patients and conducts every 12-minute safety checks.
• Supervises patients to maintain safety, conducts room and environmental checks, and escorts patients to meals and activities.
• Writes group notes, facilitates groups, and stays with patients to provide supervision and safety at all times under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
