Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a Laboratory Technologist Generalist for night shift coverage to prioritize testing procedures and maintain accurate records in accordance with CAP, DNV, and CLIA standards. The role may involve up to four lab areas including Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology and Blood Bank.

The incumbent will work 11 p.m.–7 a.m., handle adolescent to geriatric patients, and maintain competencies across required disciplines while ensuring patient safety and quality

Qualifications

• Licensure or other certifications: ASCP, NCA, or AMT; meets GA state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Completes routine and stat testing according to policy and timeframes.
• Performs analysis independently according to established criteria.
• Lends assistance to other areas to facilitate specimen handling.
• Performs equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Maintains lab records and data entry in the computer system.
• Consults with supervisor or pathologist on questionable results.
• Reviews daily QC data and applies established rules.
• Interprets QC data and flags abnormalities to supervisors.
• Precepts MLT students as needed.
• Attends at least 80% of continuing education programs.
• Suggests quality improvements in the laboratory.
