Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist to conduct tests and analyses in the hospital laboratory. You will participate in proficiency testing, ensure accurate reporting, and support education for clinical staff while maintaining patient confidentiality.

The role emphasizes safety, compliance with regulations, and collaboration with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in laboratory science/medical laboratory technology; CLIA equivalency if field not matching.
• Must meet Corporate Compliance Plan rules and confidentiality requirements.
• Ability to work independently with varying priorities and minimal supervision.
• Maintain equipment records and perform quality assessments.
• Operate computer systems to manage patient documentation and testing records.
• Educate and train new staff in medical laboratory settings.
• Strong communication with patients, staff, physicians, and other health professionals.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tests and analyses according to hospital procedures and standards.
• Participate in proficiency testing and comply with regulations.
• Report results and provide technical information for all age groups.
• Resolve customer service issues within guidelines; support education for staff.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and evaluate new equipment/procedures.
• Protect patient confidentiality and adhere to safety policies.
• Handle hazardous waste training and proper disposal.
• Assist in training new employees and orienting staff.
• Answer phones and perform clerical duties to support operations.
• Maintain clean, organized workspaces and safeguarded records.
• Perform pre-analytical activities including equipment maintenance and QC checks.
• Other duties as assigned.
