Job summary

AdventHealth Palm Harbor seeks a Laboratory Technician for the night shift to support laboratory operations and clinical staff. You will follow safety policies, perform both pre-analytic and analytic tasks, and help with data collection and quality improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Follows safety policies, PPE use, and hazardous waste training.
• Writes and speaks English clearly with staff and patients.
• Ability to work independently with varying priorities.
• Maintains equipment and performs quality assessment activities.
• Educates and trains new staff in medical lab settings.
• Proficient in a wide range of laboratory techniques.
• Strong analytical and mathematical abilities with good organization.
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to read/write instructions and follow procedures in English.

Responsibilities

• Follows safety policies including PPE use and hazardous chemical handling.
• Participates in lab and hospital performance improvement activities.
• Evaluates new lab techniques and assists with data collection.
• Maintains lab equipment and spaces through cleaning and disinfection.
• Supports clinical staff with workflow education and guidance.
• Performs pre-analytical activities: maintenance, inventory, specimen collection.
• Performs post-analytical activities: reporting results and technical support.
• Completes tests and analyses according to SOPs.
• Participates in proficiency testing and regulatory adherence.
• Acts as a preceptor for orientation and training of new staff.
