Job summary

AdventHealth Palm Harbor seeks a night shift Medical Laboratory Technician to join our clinical team. You will perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical lab tasks, ensure quality, and support education for staff while following safety and regulatory standards.

You will handle specimen processing, operate instruments, assist with performance improvement activities, and contribute to patient-focused care across the lab with a commitment to accuracy and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a laboratory science or MLS-related program is required (CLIA equivalency may apply).
• Strong knowledge of laboratory testing functions, safety and compliance.
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in documenting results and maintaining records.
• Excellent communication in English and ability to train others.

Responsibilities

• Follows safety policies including PPE use and hazardous chemical handling and completes required training.
• Participates in laboratory performance improvement activities.
• Evaluates new techniques and assists with data collection and special projects.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and spaces through cleaning and disinfection.
• Performs pre-analytical activities including equipment checks, inventory control, and specimen processing.
• Reports results and provides technical support for post-analytical activities.
• Completes tests and procedures in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
• May act as a preceptor to orient and train new staff or students.
