Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or equivalent.
• 2+ years of clinical lab experience preferred.
• MLS (ASCP) or equivalent credentials may be required depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-analytical activities including equipment maintenance, function checks, inventory control, supply stocking, specimen collection, processing, cleaning and disinfection of lab equipment and spaces.
• Conducts post-analytical activities related to laboratory testing, including reporting results and providing technical support.
• Completes tests and procedures efficiently and accurately following SOPs.
• Participates in proficiency testing and adheres to regulations and policies.
• May precept and train new employees and students.
• Guides technicians and support staff, resolving customer service issues within guidelines.
• Follows safety policies including PPE, handwashing, hazardous waste handling; completes required training.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and evaluates new lab techniques.
