Job summary

WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory professional for a full-time night-shift role in Laboratory Support. The position involves a variety of routine and specialized testing across divisions, with supervision as appropriate and responsibilities that include quality control and instrument checks.

Responsibilities include processing specimens, identifying microorganisms, blood banking duties, and contributing to safety and process improvements while training staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or college diploma required.
• College transcript required.
• Licenses/certifications required within 1 year (ASCP, AMT, ABOR or similar).

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and/or specialized testing under supervision as appropriate.
• Operates laboratory instruments and records results.
• Maintains quality control and instrument check procedures.
• Inoculates, cultivates, classifies, and identifies microorganisms in specimens to aid diagnosis.
• May group or type donor blood and determine compatibility.
• May perform chemical/immunological tests on blood and body fluids.
• Counts and describes morphology of cells; performs coagulation testing.
• Prepares reagents, stains, and solutions; trains others in procedures.
• Consults with medical staff on laboratory services.
• Identifies safety concerns and opportunities for process improvement.
