Qualifications

• Associates degree in a laboratory science; CLIA equivalency may apply.
• MLS (ASCP) / MLS (AMT) certification required.
• Ability to read, write and follow instructions in English; strong communication skills.
• Familiarity with safety, compliance and documentation in a clinical lab.

Responsibilities

• Follows safety policies including PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling.
• Participates in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities.
• Evaluates new laboratory techniques and assists with data collection.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and spaces through cleaning and disinfection.
• Performs pre-analytical activities including equipment maintenance and specimen handling.
• Conducts post-analytical activities including reporting results and technical support.
• Completes tests and analytical procedures per SOPs.
• May act as a preceptor to train new staff; provides guidance to staff.
