Job summary

Cook County Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse I (Med/Surg) for the 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM shift on 7 East, John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital. This role involves delivering safe, effective nursing care to critically ill patients and coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications include IL RN license (or NL) and BLS, with preferred ACLS. Responsibilities cover assessment, planning, implementing, and documenting patient care, with emphasis on safety and patient/family education.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois or ability to obtain license two weeks prior to starting employment.
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or able to obtain within two weeks of starting.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, plans, and cares for the total needs of patients.
• Performs initial and ongoing assessment/data collection.
• Formulates an individualized plan of care based on assessed needs.
• Implements care according to established standards.
• Documents nursing assessments, treatments, medications, and outcomes.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates educational services for patients.
• Performs and directs CPR as needed.
• Operates equipment safely for patient care.
• Provides direction to other nursing staff and collaborates with the team.
