Job summary

Kennametal Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to oversee the Roanoke Rapids, NC manufacturing floor on the 3rd shift (9:00 PM–6:00 AM, 5 nights/week).

The role focuses on ensuring efficient operations, confidentiality of material, and adherence to quality and safety standards. The position requires leadership to plan daily activities, monitor production, and drive continuous improvement while coordinating with maintenance, safety, and production teams.

Qualifications

• High school graduate; 3+ years manufacturing experience or equivalent technical training.
• 2+ years of formal technical training beyond high school and 3-5 years of people supervision.
• Basic knowledge of environmental, health and safety issues.
• Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, robust problem-solving techniques, MRP, and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to ensure efficient operation of the manufacturing floor.
• Manage confidential and time sensitive material.
• Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Communicate effectively via phone and email ensuring timely and accurate duties.
• Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Prepare an annual sales forecast aligned with product group marketing goals.
• Include estimates of sales costs, value of sales, delivery schedule, gross profit, and budget for each product.
• Understand and acknowledge day-to-day EHS responsibilities and conduct safety audits.
• Plan and direct daily activities within the department to meet throughput goals.
• Identify maintenance issues and ensure completed preventive maintenance.
