Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs in Minneapolis seeks a General Maintenance Worker/Housekeeping to perform a variety of indoor and outdoor cleaning, laundry and basic maintenance in a resident care setting. The role requires night shifts (10:00 pm–6:30 am) and weekend/holiday work, with benefits including health coverage and paid time off.

Responsibilities include floor care, window cleaning, laundry, equipment maintenance, and general housekeeping across the Veterans Home campus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of flooring types and maintenance methods.
• Knowledge of cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, soaps.
• Ability to operate and make minor repairs on maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain floors and hallways by sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, and vacuuming.
• Clean windows, walls, and window treatments; move and arrange furniture.
• Perform laundry duties and sort/deliver residents' clothing.
• Operate vacuums and maintain cleaning equipment.
• Clean restrooms and manage supplies; remove trash.
