Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Housekeeping Aid at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center to perform janitorial and custodial services in the Environmental Management Services Division.

You will work under the Housekeeping Supervisor and support patient areas with cleaning, bed-making, and waste management. The position emphasizes floor maintenance, door and fixture cleaning, and operation of heavy cleaning equipment, with a 3:30pm–12:00am schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience and training evidence showing ability to perform duties.
• Qualifications evaluated by federal standards; screen-out element applies.
• Full year of work equals 35-40 hours per week; volunteer work may count.

Responsibilities

• Perform floor maintenance and wall washing.
• Clean doors, frames, baseboards, corners, and stairwells.
• Operate pressure washers and heavy industrial cleaning equipment.
• Empty trash and replace liners; transport waste and recyclables.
• Clean restrooms, replenish supplies; bed-making in patient areas.
• Clean mattresses and bed frames; clean bedside stands and equipment.
• Work schedule: Mon-Fri 3:30pm-12:00am; ensure safety and cleanliness.
