U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Minneapolis, MN seeks a Housekeeping Aid - Environmental Services Technician to perform cleaning duties in patient and non-patient areas, including laundering textiles and inventory work.

You will maintain cleanliness and safety across wards, kitchens, and common areas. The role requires physical stamina for demanding cleaning tasks and the ability to operate heavy equipment when needed.

Qualifications

• Experience: No specific length required, but you must show training or experience related to the work on your resume.
• Applicants will be rated under OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
• Physical requirements: frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling and pushing; sometimes heavy cleaning equipment over 50 pounds.
• Work environment: indoors with heat, light, ventilation; occasional outdoor exposure and PPE for contagious agents.

Responsabilités

• Executes a full range of housekeeping activities in patient and non-patient care areas.
• Performs floor maintenance - wall washing.
• Cleans doors, doorframes, baseboard corners and edges, and stairwells.
• Periodically uses pressure washers and heavy industrial equipment.
• Maintains and adjusts cleaning equipment and attachments for best results.
• Empties trash and wastebaskets; replaces liners.
• Transports refuse, regulated medical waste and recycling to central areas.
• Cleans rest rooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms to meet standards (disinfects and deodorizes).
• Cleans mirrors, sinks, water fountains; polishes fixtures.
• Replenishes supplies (paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizers, soap).
• Moves and arranges furniture, patient wardrobes, beds, etc., to accomplish tasks.
• Provides bed-making services in patient care areas and OD rooms.
• Cleans mattresses, springs and bed frames; cleans bedside stands and related items.
• Removes soiled textiles and transports to designated rooms; loads/unloads textiles.
• Restocks textile closets and participates in inventory management.
