Job summary

Trinity Health Grand Rapids Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a part-time, night shift position in Grand Rapids. The LPN will provide direct patient care under the RN's direction in a 32-bed acute care unit serving patients 65 and older.

Required are a high school diploma or equivalent with graduation from an accredited LPN program, a Michigan Practical Nurse license, and CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of an accredited LPN program.
• Current Practical Nurse license in the State of Michigan.
• CPR or BLS Certified

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the RN, assists with initial and ongoing patient assessments through observation and data collection, as delegated by the RN.
• Performs activities which may be delegated by the RN and/or Physician, including but not limited to venipuncture for specimens and IV access.
• Inserts and discontinues peripheral short intravenous catheters.
• Inserts and discontinues indwelling and intermittent urinary catheterization.
• Obtains laboratory specimens and performs basic laboratory procedures (point-of-care tests).
• Performs basic bedside care and selected procedures under RN supervision (ECG, dressing changes, etc.).
• Administers physician-directed treatments as ordered.
• Other unit-specific activities such as activities of daily living appropriate to the patient's condition
