Job summary

Rutgers University seeks a Full Time Licensed Practical Nurse for Southwoods State Prison in Bridgeton, NJ. The Night shift provides total patient care under RN supervision, delivering safe and therapeutic nursing care in a correctional setting.

Requirements include NJ LPN license and CPR certification, with preferred 6 months in an acute hospital setting. Onsite work, comprehensive Rutgers benefits, and a 40-hour week are offered.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Current NJ LPN license and CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license; reliable transportation.
• Preferred: at least 6 months in an acute hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Participates in data collection related to patients’ status and needs.
• Provides input to the RN for plan of care by communicating pertinent information.
• Provides direct patient care within scope of practice to implement the plan of care.
• Informs patients/significant others on health/illness state and plan of care.
• Assists patient/significant other in discharge preparation and home health maintenance.
• Documents all aspects of patient care.
