Job summary

Rutgers University is seeking a Part Time Licensed Practical Nurse for Northern State Prison, Newark, NJ. The LPN will provide total patient care under RN supervision, performing treatments within guidelines in a correctional setting.

Responsibilities include data collection, contributing to care plans, direct patient care, patient education, discharge preparation, and documenting care while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid LPN license in New Jersey.
• CPR certification required.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Participates in data collection related to patients’ status and needs.
• Provides input to Registered Nurse for incorporation into the plan of care.
• Provides direct patient care within scope of practice to implement the plan of care.
• Informs and instructs patients about health/illness state and plan of care.
• Assists patients and significant others in discharge planning and home health maintenance.
• Documents all aspects of patient care.
