Job summary

Leggett & Platt, a long‑standing leader in manufacturing, is seeking a Laborer at our Merit Steel location in Kouts, Indiana. This role supports wire drawing, material handling, and site cleanliness to help maintain safe, efficient operations.

You will keep wire drawing machines supplied, fill propane, operate a sweeper, unload trucks, dump barrels and scrap, dispose of garbage, and perform plant housekeeping under supervisor guidance with safety as a priority.

Qualifications

• Must be organized and able to multi-task.
• Must exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be willing and able to adapt to different schedules.
• Experience in manufacturing is preferred.
• Interest in growing into other roles within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Keep wire drawing machines supplied with proper carriers.
• Fill propane.
• Operate and inspect Sweeper.
• Unload trucks.
• Dump barrels.
• Dispose of garbage.
• Dump scrap hoppers.
• Perform all tasks assigned by Supervisor, prioritizing safety above all else.
• Perform plant housekeeping duties as needed.
