Job summary

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse for full-time night shifts in Washington, DC. The role focuses on safe, compassionate care during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery, with leadership support for the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current and active Registered Nurse license in the applicable state.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required or obtained within designated timeframe.
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required or obtained within designated timeframe.
• Fetal monitoring certification or demonstrated competency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients during labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period.
• Assess maternal and fetal status through ongoing monitoring, including vital signs, contractions, fetal heart tones, and labor progression.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments as ordered, including induction agents, pain management, and emergency interventions.
• Assist physicians, midwives, and anesthesia providers during vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and obstetric procedures.
• Educate patients and families on labor expectations, pain management options, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery.
