Job summary

Actalent in Elmwood Park, NJ is seeking a Lab Technician I to perform clinical laboratory testing supporting detection and prognosis of disease. The role collaborates with the lab team, operates instruments, and ensures procedures meet quality standards.

Responsibilities include following SOPs, maintaining equipment, performing routine and STAT testing, reviewing QC data, and assisting in training staff. This on-site contract-to-hire position offers exposure to automated analyzers and LIS

Qualifications

• Associate degree in medical technology or life science per CLIA criteria.
• State licensure required where applicable.
• ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow written lab procedures for specimen handling, processing and storage.
• Perform moderate and high complexity testing per SOPs and regulatory standards.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of procedures and instrumentation.
• Review QC data and take corrective actions as needed.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and analyzers.
• Assist in training and orienting new staff; support supervision.
• Participate in evaluation and development of new procedures and instruments.
