Job summary

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent with prior field experience.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions, communicate effectively with supervision.
• Proficient in safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Responsibilities

• Reads specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material.
• Fabricates metal parts, such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders, from blueprints.
• Unloads and positions prefabricated steel units; hoists beams, girders, or columns using cranes.
• Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of structural steel members.
• Cuts, bends, or welds steel pieces with appropriate equipment.
• Forces structural steel into final positions using suitable tools.
• Bolts structural members for permanent riveting, bolting, or welding.
• Assemble hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy equipment.
• Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities and plan time, costs, resources, materials.
