Job summary

Parsec, LLC in Memphis, TN seeks an Operations Manager to lead nightly intermodal terminal operations. You will supervise, coach, and develop staff, coordinate inbound/outbound train activities, and ensure safe, efficient handling of freight for CN and key customers.

The role requires strong safety focus, KPI monitoring, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, outdoor work environment. Experience in rail/intermodal operations is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of leadership in intermodal, transportation, logistics, warehousing, railroad, shipping, or terminal operations.
• Supervisory experience leading hourly employees in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Strong understanding of safety practices and operational compliance.
• Experience managing productivity, labor planning, and performance metrics.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions and outdoor environments.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems.
• Experience with rail, intermodal, trucking, yard management, or container operations preferred.
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day intermodal terminal operations, ensuring freight is handled safely and efficiently.
• Lead and develop terminal personnel while promoting safety, accountability, and productivity.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound train activities to ensure containers, chassis, and equipment are processed efficiently.
• Monitor yard inventory, equipment utilization, and container movement throughout the terminal.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, railroad requirements, and safety regulations.
• Conduct employee coaching, performance management, training, and development activities.
• Monitor operational KPIs, including dwell time, on-time release, safety performance, and equipment availability.
• Allocate labor, equipment, and resources based on daily workload and train schedules.
• Partner with customers, railroad representatives, mechanics, and terminal leadership to resolve operational challenges.
• Maintain accurate operational records, reporting, and daily shift documentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, service performance, and cost control.
• Respond to operational issues in real-time and make decisions that support customer service and terminal performance.
