Job summary

James Madison University is accepting applications for a part-time Wage Housekeeping Worker on the night shift (Sunday - Thursday, 10:30 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.). Part-time staff can work up to 29 hours per week.

Duties include cleaning of assigned areas using buffers, vacuums, and auto scrubbers, following university safety procedures and chemical handling rules. This non-exempt wage position is eligible for overtime, with E-Verify and background checks.

Qualifications

• Experience performing a variety of cleaning tasks.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to clean materials containing bloodborne pathogens and use strong chemicals.
• A positive attitude and a desire to work together to keep facilities welcoming and beautiful.
• Ability to demonstrate basic proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning of assigned areas using buffers, vacuums, and auto scrubbers.
• Understand and practice university safety procedures, particularly related to equipment operation and chemical use.
• Participate in the university’s trash/recycling program.
