Job summary

WellSpan Health in Ephrata, PA is seeking a Switchboard Operator I for the night shift. You will operate the telephone console, route calls, and support emergency communications to ensure patient care and hospital operations run smoothly.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, strong interpersonal and verbal skills, and basic computer literacy. Experience with switchboards is preferred; the position is full-time and on-site at night.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal/communications skills.
• Above average verbal skill is required to communicate with the public.
• Required knowledge of basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Answers incoming calls promptly, efficiently, and professionally while providing excellent customer service to all internal and external callers.
• Screens and routes calls accurately to appropriate departments, staff, or patient locations.
• Facilitates communication between patients, visitors, and hospital staff. Addresses routine service concerns and escalates issues as appropriate.
• Initiates and announces hospital emergency codes following established protocols and coordinates communication during urgent situations.
• Maintains paging systems and hospital on-call schedules to support patient care and hospital operations.
