Job summary

Northwell Health in Norwalk is seeking a Security Officer for a full-time overnight shift (Mon-Fri, 10:00pm-6:00am) to support daily hospital operations, respond to Code/Alerts, and maintain a safe environment.

The Norwalk Hospital Security Officer conducts rounds, deters crime, handles incidents, and coordinates with law enforcement. The role requires handling aggressive individuals, morgue duties, and safety searches while upholding Northwell Health values.

Qualifications

• State of CT Security Officer license preferred.
• Preferred training/certifications in related fields (OC Spray, Baton, Taser, Handcuff, tactical driving).
• Preferred certifications with safety/security orgs (OSHA, NFPA, FEMA, IAHSS, IFPO, ASIS).

Responsibilities

• Deter crime, maintain order, and ensure courteous customer service with patients and visitors.
• Detect suspicious activity; conduct rounds and patrols to assess safety of property.
• Respond to incidents and service requests; assist with morgue admissions and releases, door unlocking, and escorting law enforcement.
• Respond to emergency codes/alerts and provide needed support.
• Investigate property loss, damage, injuries or assaults involving patients, staff, and visitors.
• Interact with law enforcement; operate cameras and radios as part of duties.
• Perform morgue-related duties and oversee high-risk patients; conduct safety searches and apply restraints when needed.
• Communicate patient condition changes to Nursing/Clinical staff; support compliance and company values.
