Job summary

Brown University Health seeks an experienced HVAC Technician to inspect, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related systems across Rhode Island Hospital. You will monitor pumps, air-handling units, and cooling towers, performing spot repairs and adjustments as needed.

Responsibilities include responding to calls on off-shifts and weekends, maintaining logs, and complying with safety rules and refrigerant regulations.

Qualifications

• Ability to install, troubleshoot and repair heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning and related systems within a large hospital complex.
• Formal HVAC training or equivalent, typically 1–2 years.
• Licenses: Providence Stationary Operating License, Refrigeration Operators License, RI Refrigeration Journeyman License.
• Completion of three years accredited Apprenticeship HVAC Program.

Responsibilities

• Inspect pumps, air-handling units, refrigeration and ventilation systems in machinery spaces daily.
• Perform spot repairs, replacements and adjustments; report issues affecting safety or operations.
• Maintain logs, use work order system, and respond to off-shift and weekend calls.
• Assist in installation/removal of HVAC equipment and comply with refrigerant regulations.
• Respond to fire alarms and coordinate with Fire Department on elevators when needed.
