Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate diverse machinery for MSW and recyclables. You will perform site preparation, earth moving, and routine maintenance while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include inspections, operating multiple heavy machines, and coordinating with customers. Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience and pass required tests. Flexible hours and night shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be proficient on heavy equipment.
• Ability to successfully complete training on other landfill equipment as necessary.
• Must be dependable, a self-starter, and able to identify and perform daily operational requirements.
• Must possess good communication skills and be able to communicate effectively and professionally with others.
• Ability to maneuver equipment through tight driving areas with heavy equipment, vehicle, and/or pedestrian traffic.
• Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Perform efficient safe operation of heavy equipment such as bulldozers, graders, excavators, backhoes, loaders, and trucks in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Conduct pre-trip/post-trip inspections and complete necessary documentation.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment including lubrication, fueling, and cleaning.
• Operate equipment for site preparation, earth moving, landscaping, snow removal, etc.
• Monitor equipment to ensure proper operation and minimal downtime.
• Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
• Clean waste from equipment bodies, cabs, and wheels.
• Perform on-site roll-off work to switch trash compactors as needed.
• Operate yard tractor to move and stage trailers.
• Manage hazardous waste safely as required.
