Job summary

Expeditors in Romulus, MI is seeking a Customer Service/Operations specialist to execute shipment requests, source capacity, and communicate across the Expeditors network. You will maintain accurate data, manage emails, and ensure timely documentation and PODs, while building strong customer and provider relationships.

The role requires 6 months to 1 year of related experience, strong communication, and fluent English, with a Monday–Friday night schedule (2200–0600).

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Effective interpersonal skills, including listening and clear concise communication.
• Pro-active, strong organizational skills; ability to manage time and priorities.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Execute shipment requests for customers.
• Source capacity with approved service providers.
• Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and Expeditors network via email, phone, instant message, and in person.
• Monitor and action email boxes daily.
• Ensure correspondence is uploaded into the document imaging system and labeled correctly.
• Notify customers of shipment status and delays.
• Ensure accurate and timely EDI communication to customers and service providers.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers and service providers.
• Manage accurate data entry into the operating system.
• Track and Trace shipments via internal and external sources.
• Assist with booking amendments with carriers.
• Handle freight routing deviations and transit updates.
• Ensure PODs are received and imaged.
• Understand department processes and seek efficiency improvements.
• Meet KPIs for department, branch, product, and company goals.
