Job summary

Leggett & Platt’s Merit Steel facility in Kouts, Indiana is seeking a Filter Press Operator for a 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. 2-2-3 schedule. You will operate and maintain a filter press, monitor tanks, run pumps, and respond to alarms to keep production safe and continuous.

Key responsibilities include equipment startup/shutdown, cleaning, pH log readings, and adhering to safety and procedural standards while supporting the supervisor in daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Must be organized and able to multi-task.
• Must exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Committed to following established procedures to eliminate preventable mistakes and maintain high standards.
• At least one-year operating machinery in a manufacturing environment is required.

Responsibilities

• Start up and shut down of filter press system.
• Monitor and operate sulfate and recovery tanks.
• Operate and maintain pumps.
• Acknowledge, assess, and react to system/process alarms to ensure safety and continuity.
• Maintain equipment, including cleaning the refrigeration coil, de-sludge, refill and charge acid tubs.
• Calibrate pH meters and log readings.
• Clean filter press and designated work areas.
• Perform all tasks assigned by Supervisor, prioritizing safety above all else.
