Job summary

Geisinger is seeking an Environmental Services (EVS) team member to maintain hospital cleanliness and support a safe, healthy environment for patients and staff. You will follow healthcare cleaning and waste handling procedures to ensure high-quality service and positive patient experiences.

The role includes cleaning patient areas, managing various waste streams, and adhering to PPE and isolation protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience preferred.
• CHEST certification (Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician) is referenced in the education/branding section.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, surgical suites, clinical areas, offices, corridors and stairwells.
• Handle various waste streams including municipal, recyclable, pharmaceutical, biohazard, chemotherapeutic waste and sharps.
• Wear PPE and follow isolation precautions when entering isolation rooms.
• Use hospital-approved cleaners and power equipment to protect floors and fixtures.
• Place signage to indicate cleaning in progress and wet floors to reduce falls.
