Job summary

Geisinger is seeking Environmental Services staff to maintain cleanliness across patient rooms, surgical suites, and clinical areas. The role emphasizes infection control, proper waste handling, and adherence to hospital standards to ensure a safe, clean environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities include cleaning, disinfecting, waste management, PPE use, and following isolation precautions, with opportunities for professional development and certification through the CHEST program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects patient rooms, surgical suites, clinical areas, office spaces, corridors and stairwells as assigned.
• Handles various waste streams including municipal, recyclable, pharmaceutical, biohazard, chemotherapeutic and sharps waste.
• Wears standard PPE and follows isolation precautions when entering isolation rooms.
• Operates hospital-approved chemical cleaners and power equipment safely to protect floors and fixtures.
• Places warning signage when cleaning is in progress to prevent slips and falls.
