Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Healthcare Environmental Services (EVS) team member to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment. You will clean and disinfect patient and non-patient areas, handle waste, follow infection control protocols, and use PPE as required to protect patients and staff.

You will also assist with bed management and ensure accurate signage when cleaning is in progress. Shifts are 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm with weekend and holiday rotation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• CHEST certification training available.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects patient and non-patient facing areas, departments and spaces.
• Handles various waste streams including municipal and recyclable waste.
• Wears standard personal protective equipment as required.
• Follows procedures for the proper use of hospital approved products used in cleaning and disinfection processes.
• Places the appropriate signage to indicate cleaning is occurring and floor is wet to reduce fall risk.
• Reports identified facility repairs as directed or observed.
• Utilizes mobile technology to ensure compliance with bed management procedures and other EVS functions.
• Performs detailed cleaning including high dusting, walls, ceilings, tracks, vents and lights.
• Collects soiled linen and transports to hospital staging area for vendor pickup.
• All EVS staff entering Medication Rooms must receive mandatory education on proper Medication Room protocol.
