Job summary

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in the Emergency Department seeks a Part-time Patient Support Technician for the night shift (1900-0700) with 24 hours weekly. You will assist physicians and nurses with phlebotomy, transport, monitor setup, wound care, and specimen collection, while documenting in the EHR and communicating patient needs to the nursing team.

Required are a high school diploma, completion of a relevant certification program, and BLS within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities with staff, physicians, patients and families.
• Ability to manage time and priorities with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nurses with technical patient care including phlebotomy and wound care.
• Transport patients, place on monitors, and collect lab specimens.
• Document procedures in the EHR and communicate observations to the nurse.
• Coordinate communications (phone, paging, EMS) to facilitate patient care.
• Maintain safety, assist with equipment checks and patient transfers.
