Job summary

University Health at UH Lakewood Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, seeks an Environmental Services Technician (EVS Tech) working 10:30 PM–7:00 AM for 40 hours a week. You will help keep patient areas, hallways, and common spaces clean, safe, and sanitary.

You will follow procedures, move furniture when needed, operate floor-care equipment, and comply with infection control standards to protect patients and staff. Strong English skills and ability to lift 50 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• Speak and read English; communicate effectively with staff, patients and visitors.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and handle heavier items when necessary.
• Know how to operate cleaning and floor care equipment safely and effectively.
• Be ready to complete a competency assessment after training within 30–60 days of hire.
• Follow written and verbal instructions and pay attention to details that affect cleanliness and safety.

Responsibilities

• Clean and service hospital areas per established procedures, from patient rooms to common spaces.
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies around departments as needed to prepare spaces for functions.
• Maintain hospital cleanliness following infection control standards and safety procedures.
• Operate electric and battery-powered floor care equipment to keep floors spotless and safe.
• Read and understand cleaning chemical labels to follow contents and first aid instructions.
