Job summary

Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona, is seeking an Emergency Department Technician for a full-time night shift (7:00pm–7:00am). The ED is a busy Level III Trauma Center serving adult and pediatric patients with a 68-bed capacity, part of Banner Health.

You will assist health care providers, perform procedures, manage supplies, and support patient care across a diverse caseload. A current EMT-B (or higher) and BLS are required; a high school diploma or GED is also needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Either Emergency Medical Technician–Basic (EMT-B) or higher with state licensure or state certification, or Certified Nursing Assistant in state of practice is required for new hires and transfers. In Colorado: Either EMT-B or higher with state licensure or state certification.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, performs assigned procedures including EKG testing, wound cleansing, vital sign measurements, monitor leads, specimen collection and transports.
• Sets up, prepares patient and assists with exams and minor procedures (lumbar punctures, suturing, chest tube insertion, etc.).
• Performs specimen collection ensuring accuracy and quality; point of care testing where permitted.
• Provides communication and updates to RN/Physician with changes in patient condition; documents in patient record.
• Monitors supply stock levels and maintains proper equipment and environment; supports unit coordination and reception duties.
• Attends department meetings and assists in orienting new ED Technicians.
• Position uses problem-solving and effective communication with patients and other departments.
