Job summary

IU Health in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking a part-time Night Shift patient care assistant for the Emergency Department. You will support nurses and transport patients, while taking vital signs and maintaining supplies. This role involves working 2x12 hour night shifts (6pm–6am).

Requirements include a High School diploma and BLS certification; EMT or PCA certification is preferred. Prior hospital experience is a plus, and you will perform under supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA.
• EMT or PCA certification preferred.
• Knowledge of routine patient care procedures.
• Familiarity with infection control.
• Knowledge of EMTALA requirements.
• Some hospital-based patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport stable monitored and non-monitored patients.
• Take and record patient vital signs.
• Stock and clean patient care and supply areas.
• Assist in operation of various hospital equipment.
• Provide nursing support for critically ill and stable ED patients.
