Job summary

Penn Medicine's Emergency Department is hiring a Full-Time Emergency Department Tech for Shift 3 (7p – 7a). The ED Tech collaborates with the nursing team to deliver high-quality patient care, participate in data collection, and support patient rounds and safety protocols.

Under RN supervision, you will assist with data collection, patient transport, and daily living activities, and document findings in Penn Chart. BLS is required; EMT or nursing student with clinical rotation is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CAN or matriculating nursing student with clinical rotation preferred.
• EMT or EMPT preferred.
• BLS from the American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in evaluating nursing care and reporting findings to the RN.
• Document findings, interventions and patient outcomes in Penn Chart; record I&O, vitals, etc.
• Promote infection control and standard precautions; maintain a safe environment.
• Transport patients to diagnostic testing or other care areas as needed.
• Perform phlebotomy as directed by the RN.
• Assist with activities of daily living and patient mobility.
• Participate in unit meetings and collaborate with healthcare team.
• Support RN in medication administration and patient care planning.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

CAN or matriculating nursing student with clinical rotation preferred

EMT or EMPT preferred

BLS from American Heart Association required
